TEHRAN – Iran’s central province of Isfahan is presenting its tourism, cultural and historical capacities at the FITUR 2026 which is currently underway in Madrid.

The Touring & Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a body under the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, has set up Iran’s national pavilion at FITUR 2026, one of the world’s largest tourism fairs, according to officials.

On Thursday, Amir Karamzadeh, director general of cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts of Isfahan province, said Isfahan has a strong presence within the Iran pavilion to introduce the province’s tourism offerings to international visitors.

“The event opened with the presence of the Iranian ambassador to Spain and the head of the Touring & Automobile Club of Iran,” Karamzadeh said.

He said five selected tourism agencies from Isfahan province are participating in the exhibition, holding business-to-business meetings and engaging in international tourism marketing.

Karamzadeh said several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding have been signed during the exhibition, including deals related to joint familiarization tours with foreign tourism operators, adding that talks on further cooperation are continuing.

The official described the province’s participation as part of efforts to expand tourism-related engagement with foreign markets.

Isfahan, the provincial capital, is one of Iran’s major tourist destinations and has historically been located on key north-south and east-west routes within the country. The ancient city reached its zenith between the 9th and 18th centuries. During the Safavid era, it became Iran’s capital under Shah Abbas the Great.

It is filled with many architectural wonders, such as unmatched Islamic buildings, bazaars, museums, Persian gardens, and tree-lined boulevards. It’s a city for walking, getting lost in its mazing bazaars, dozing in beautiful gardens, and meeting people. The Persian proverb “Isfahan nesf-e-jahan ast” (Isfahan is half the world) reflects the city’s cultural and historical prominence.
